Dambulla

BIO

As a designer, I am fascinated by geometric patterns and florals found in areas of hidden beauty such as the Dambulla Caves in Sri Lanka which inspired my final collection.  A Series of 5 caves hidden in a hillside, these geometric and floral structures translate into laser cut and digitally embroidered pieces for interiors and soft furnishings.

I focused on combining different sections of the paintings to create a collaged pattern of different shapes and structures, often using repeated motifs and altering the size and scale of each motif.

Through the use of mark making and photography through in my initial research and sketchbook I have shown a transition from paper to digitally embroidered samples particularly using wool fabrics.

Focusing on colour and using tonal hues with pops of contrasting colours to create eye catching and beautiful fabrics for the luxury interiors market.
