Over the last year I have concentrated on ceramics to achieve a collection where both the ceramic vessel and the glazes have an exciting visual tension. I feel wonder when I’m making a new colour in glaze; and a sense of utter frustration when I try to recreate it! Studying glazes has allowed me to incorporate texture, I have used volcanicglazes as well as, glossy and matt finishes, creating a series of unique pieces that seem to replicate landscapes.
In the next few years I look forward to combining this research with vessels that explore materials, form and colour, pushing the limits of what can be achieved when they are combined.
Blacksmithing hase been a love of mine over the last few years, something that sadly I haven’t been able to incorporate into this collection of ceramics due to time restraints. This is something that I hope to develop further in the future.
