Fractured Disposition

BIO

I am a womenswear designer with a keen interest in print in all its forms from digital to 3D textiles. I have been able to develop my design and illustration skills throughout my degree at De Montfort University. I now have an in depth understanding of pattern cutting and garment manufacture with extensive skills in both these areas and the ability to evaluate the success of my garments and have used these skills to aid me in creating a collection of 6 outfits for my Final Major Project incorporating interesting fabrics such as latex and leather alongside print.

Inspired by identity in the 21st century, 'Fractured Disposition' explores the complexity of self-image in an ever-critical society. We live in a world where portraying a falsified, filtered and retouched appearance is the norm and where the line between natural and artificial has become blurred. Unobtainable beauty standards have given us a fragmented image of ourselves and therefore led to a fractured self-image. Using my own large scale illustrations, I have created prints incorporating images of the face to reflect “selfie culture” and hand rendered textures through drawings and mono printing which I then digitally enhance to create my final prints.
