The Memory Keeper, Flower Pot Childrenswear Boutique
For my major project I decided to create my own, boutique style, clothing brand named ‘Flower Pot’, aimed at children aged 1 to 7 years of age. Research on the high street demonstrated a gap in the market for a specialist brand, providing individually designed clothes with a unique style.
Focussing on girlswear for spring/summer 2015, the inspiration for ‘The Memory Keeper’ range came from childhood memories, reflecting the innocence of adolescence. Influenced by fairytale stories, playing outdoors, flowers, toys and family holidays. Clothing plays an important part in our lives and ‘our story’ is composed not only of what we did but what we wore!
The range consists of vintage inspired, timeless pieces with a modern day twist. Different techniques have been used to embellish the outfits, such as hand painted floral designs and embroidery to add interest and texture, creating appealing, tactile clothing for young children. Organic materials were used, where possible, to positively express the desire to maintain and protect our environment. The addition of ragdolls to the collection, dressed in matching items, add an additional marketing ploy whilst also giving the brand a unique selling point.
The overall aim was to involve children, in this over-digitalised world, with their family history and encourage them to make full use of their freedom, playing in a natural environment like their parents and grandparents did before them.
