I am currently in my final year of Contour Fashion at De Montfort University where I have been studying Lingerie, Swimwear and corsetry design and construction for the past three years.
Whilst working towards my degree in Contour Fashion, I have had the opportunity to gain a wide range of experience in the professional work place and have most recently returned from a month internship at Clover in Hong Kong. Here I worked with the design team to develop patterns, help with design ideas and complete Cad tasks. My experience as a lingerie fitter in London department store Selfridges has also helped me to understand the different needs of real high street consumers and the importance of well-considered designs and good fitting garments. This has meant that I have developed a keen interest in pattern cutting to create products which will be successful at a retail level and I have tried to develop my Cad skills, including Lectra Modaris, to be able to use them as a means of translating designs and patterns.
As a graduate of Contour Fashion with an eye for technical detail, I think that I will be well suited for a position in lingerie design or pattern cutting and that I would be able to use my experience from working in both the UK and Hong Kong to benefit me. This would combine my knowledge of technical design and construction of Intimate apparel studied for my BA degree in Contour Fashion at De Montfort University and my experience working as a fitter for Selfridges Lingerie department in London.
