Winter Woodland

BIO

‘Winter Woodland’ is inspired by British Woodlands during the chilly winter months. It focuses on early morning frost and the warming orange glow of the sunrise glistening off heavily frosted icy plants. Influences from the Japanese practice of Shinrin-Yoku, or ‘forest bathing’, the project captures the mood, feelings and benefits of this exercise to create a sense of a cool, calming, refreshing walk in the woods.

Rebecca specialises in print and surface pattern design and is passionate about painting and drawing using a range of mediums. She designs for a wide range of applications including, interiors, such as wallpapers and upholstery fabrics, homeware and stationery.

Her inspiration for her designs come from a variety of places, but are mainly inspired by the world around her, looking at the natural beauty in the world. Another place of inspiration are old folkloric legends and mythology from around the world.

She has an extensive knowledge of Textiles and Print Design, including:

  • Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Digital Design/Printing
  • Screen Printing (Discharge, Devore, Dye, Surface processes etc…)
  • Screen preparation and colour separations
  • Fabric Dyeing (Acid and Direct)
  • Pattern Repeats
  • Detailed Illustrations and mark making
  • Textile testing and technical knowledge
