Make Do Mend

BIO

My final major project looks at old oversized men garments made into womenswear. My inspiration came from looking at workwear clothing. This including a menswear shirt, trouser and suit jacket. My main inspiration came from the 1940s woman who wears the trousers and the way her clothing showed her authority. I also looked at the make do mend era and use of fabric manipulation to create frayed edges which were inbetween seams. This technique was consistant throughtout my whole collection and added to the concept for a woman who wears black but has a colourful mind.
