Plasticine Works

BIO

Aspiring Art therapist. Tamala Mauwa-Chisiye. 21 originally Born in Africa,Malawi gained interest in Art therapy during secondary school whilst she studied art and design. Now Studying fine art (BA hons) she developed her practice and is in her third year at De Montfort university,Leicester. She is an all round artist working with all mediums and in all areas but she specialises in her unique abstract art which mimics painting as she uses Plasticine. In her 2nd year she became Inspired by her daily walks and found herself deeply interested in how nature forms colour. She uses her fingers to mark by pressure on wooden board,by using her fingers to pressure on each mark this becomes personal as each colour formed by herself is different in consistency.

''It is a form of my own self-therapy'' states Tamala. Her work connects her and the audience which may express their own therapeutic feelings and thoughts. Her influences include the Boyle Family in their concept of using things in natural form, Originally she started working from Gerhard Richter’s verb list, this is how she decided to apply textures within her pieces.
