I am a passionate individual with a love for Interior Design. As a designer I love taking on projects where my creativity is challenged. This allows me to solve problems whilst also developing my skills, which I have shown in my final major project.
Many Muslim families living in the UK struggle with keeping their Islamic values alive, as well as integrating into the western culture. The younger generation who have grown up in Islamic countries find it easy to keep their religion alive, as parents send them to mosque every day and the culture is heavily based on the religion. However, moving to the UK means that the youth become detached from their religion and don’t gain as much knowledge about it as they normally would.
My aim was to design a contemporary mosque designed to bring the Muslim community together. This 21st century mosque aims to combine contemporary architecture with the traditional aspects of Islam to make the educational experience more relevant for young people. Within this mosque, teaching practices will follow and the religion will be taught using discussions and talks. The students will engage within an interactive learning atmosphere, which will allow the younger generation to reconnect with their religion once more.
